From Our Principal:
May kicks off my favorite time of year. Ahead are the longer days of summer with all of the wonderful activities that the warm weather encourages. Outdoor play is not only required, but opens an entirely new venue of learning opportunities.
When our students move over, under, through, beside, near, fast, and slow they are not only building on their motor skills but grasping the concepts of these verbs. Learning by doing creates more neural networks in the brain and body, making the entire body a learning tool. Outside is the ideal place to get the recommended 60 minutes of activity each day. It is a natural canvas for imaginative play, it exposes even the youngest of children to new sounds, textures, and open spaces. Our large playgrounds give children the opportunity to spread out and explore their physical abilities as well as the outside world. So remember when you pick up your child and they smell faintly like a puppy dog, that smell means they have been learning!
Sincerely,
Leila Couture
Principal
Warm Weather Reminders:
- The change in seasons is a good time to evaluate the extra clothes in your child’s cubby, are they seasonally appropriate, do they still fit?
- Closed toed shoes are required for school every day.
- We will apply sunscreen and bug repellent to your child, please provide it labeled to your child’s teacher.
