News and Reminders
Professional Development Day – Monday, November 12th – Xplor Preschool Closed
We will be closed for our semi-annual Professional Development Day on Monday, November 12th. This is a day that we have very important trainings for our teachers to enhance their skills in the classrooms, caring for and teaching your children. Our Preschool program will not be open for the day, which means if your child is in Infant, Toddler, Beginner, Intermediate, or Pre-K classrooms, you will need to make alternative arrangements for care. However, we will be picking up children for our after school program that day, as these specific trainings pertain primarily to our Preschool teachers.
World Teacher’s Day – Friday, October 5th – Potluck
We would like to host a potluck for our teachers to honor them for their contributions in the lives of children every day. If you would to sign up to bring something special for the teachers on the 5th, please stop by the front desk.
Great Books Week – October 7th-13th
To celebrate great books, we would like to host a book drive of your gently used and/or favorite children’s books. We would also like to find out more about everybody’s favorite children’s books, so keep our eyes peeled on how to participate in our Great Books database!
CPR/1ST Aide at Xplor, Thursday, October 11th
Every month, Hope CPR hosts First Aide and CPR classes at Xplor from 6:45PM-8:45PM. If you are interested in signing up for a class, please let me know. For more information on CPR classes through HopeCPR, as well as the mission behind this non-profit, please visit their website at www.hopecpr.com.

Costume Parade, Trick or Treat, and Halloween Celebrations – Thursday, October 31st
Please bring your child dressed in his/her costume on Halloween! We will have our costume parade at 10AM and hope that you will come and watch the students as the show off their costumes! Preschool classrooms will trick or treat in the morning after the parade, as a class. Our classroom celebrations will take place at 3:00pm for our Preschool students and at 3:40PM for our After School students. After Schoolers will trick or treat at 4PM.
Candy Donations
We will begin collecting candy for our Halloween celebrations mid-October. Our hope is that each student will donate one bag of candy so that everybody may go home with plenty of treats. If you are in an infant classroom, you may donate stickers or other trinkets. We kindly ask that there is no hard candy, as it presents a choking hazard for young students, and that there are no not products in the candy. Candy must be individually wrapped and may not be homemade. All trick or treat bags will be sent home with students for parents to monitor. Appropriate treats for donation include items such as Hershey Kisses or Fruit Snacks, or even non-food items like Spider rings or stickers.

I will be out of the office on Monday, October 22nd-Friday, October 26th, for a Principal Conference, and will have limited to no access to email. As always, please feel free to reach out to Ms. Evelyn for any of your needs or concerns during this time.
