Note From Our Principal
Happy October! I love Fall and I’m so happy to be able to finally share this season with you! There are so many fun activities that we have coming up and I love seeing everything that the teachers have in store for the students come to life. We have sensory activities and opportunities to take learning outdoors into nature to explore the changing seasons. We also have several amazing family and community events lined up as well. We hope you can attend!
October is breast cancer awareness month and in support we will be wearing PINK every Wednesday. We will also be hosting a pumpkin decorating contest and auction to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation in Frisco. You can find out more below.
I also wanted to let you know that I will be attending our annual principal’s conference the week of October 22. I look forward to this opportunity for me each year to go and learn from leaders in the early education field and share the amazing things our teachers do every day with peers across the nation. I always return with a plethora of inspiration, new tools and best practices to share with the staff and families at the school. If you have any questions or need anything during this week, please reach out to Mr. Matt, Ms. Ashlee or Ms. Kamikka and they will be able to take care of you and your family.
Sincerely,
Hannah McGlothlin
Principal
Weather Reminders
Despite the unpredictability of fall weather, we try to ensure that our students spend time outdoors each day. Research is showing the importance of outdoor play in learning for young children and we want to ensure that our students are provided every opportunity to experience all that outdoor learning encompasses. Please make sure your child has a jacket available and a weather appropriate change of clothes in their cubby. We have many fun outdoor activities scheduled for this month and don’t want any of our students to miss out!
Classroom Pumpkin Decorating Auction for National Breast Cancer Foundation
This year each of our classrooms will be decorating a pumpkin to auction off to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, based in Frisco, TX. Each of our students will have an opportunity to participate in decorating the pumpkins. The pumpkins will be put on display in the lobby during the week of October 15th and silent auctioned off on October 19th. Donations can be made online at our team fundraising page for National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. – https://fundraise.nbcf.org/team/192799 or check donations can be dropped off at the school made out directly to National Breast Cancer Foundation. We encourage you all to vote for your favorites! Last year, we were able to give over $200 in support of breast cancer research and assistance. This year we have set our goal at $500. In addition to the contest and auction, please join us every Wednesday by wearing pink in support of our friends and family in the community facing the daily affects of breast cancer.
ISD In-Service Days on October 5th and October 8th
McKinney ISD is closed on October 8th and Frisco ISD is closed on October 5th and 8th, but we have a full day of fall themed fun planned for our school-age students. If your student would like to attend, please see Mr. Matt for more information.
Hearing, Vision and Speech Screening October 17
Metroplex Educational Consultants will be onsite for Hearing, Vision and Speech screenings for students 3 years old and up on October 17th at 8am. Child Care Licensing requires hearing and vision results to be on file for all students 4 years old and older. It is not required that you use MEC, it is an option for you. Flyers will be going home with all students 3 years and older at the end of the week. If you would like more information on the screenings, please see the front desk.
Spooktacular Fashion Show and Class Party
We will hold our fall parties on October 31st at 3:15pm, followed by our Spooktacular Fashion Show at 4pm in the school age classroom. Parents are welcome, and children are encouraged to dress up, as long as it does not interfere with eating and toileting, to show off their creative ensemble.
From Our Education Department
From stuffed animals to family pets, children have an innate love for animals. In our classrooms, animal-themed activities are always exciting and engaging for the children. For instance, teachers may transform the dramatic play center into a veterinary office and provide children with stuffed animals, toy doctor props, a pencil,[.....]
