A Note From Our Principal,
We hope that you all had a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving with loved ones. Our children are so excited that Snowball was able to return from The North Pole, even though he has to quarantine for 14 days! As the winter holidays approach, we have many special activities planned for our students and look forward to spending the season with them. We have also enclosed several important winter and holiday reminders in this newsletter. Please read through it carefully and reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Happy holidays!
Sincerely,
Tanya Ross
School Closure Reminders
As a reminder, we do not always follow the closure schedule of the local public schools. Our goal is to be open as many days as possible to support our working parents. If we must close for any reason, you will receive a notification via Links 2 Home as soon as the closure is announced. We also post notifications on our website.
Winter Clothing Reminder
We will be sending all clothes that are not weather appropriate home on Friday, December 4th. Please remember to ensure that you bring your child an extra set of weather appropriate clothes to school on Monday, December 7th. Students also need to come to school each day with a jacket (that is labeled) and dressed warmly enough to play outside for part of the day. We want everyone to be able to participate!
Holiday Closures
Our school closes at 12:30pm on December 24th, and is closed on December 25th for Christmas Day. The school will be closed at 12:30pm on December 31st, and will be closed on January 1st for New Year’s Day.
Winter Break Camp
We will be holding Winter Break Camp for our school-age students from December 21- January 4. Students will participate in community service activities, STEAM learning opportunities, holiday themed projects and virtual activities. Students may attend all or part of Winter Break Camp, please let us know by December 16th if your child will be attending.
Classroom Holiday Celebrations—Monday, December 23rd
Through the month of December, our classes will be learning about different winter holidays and customs. On Monday, December 23rd, our students will showcase their learning and the holiday décor they’ve created with a classroom celebration. Students will be celebrating with story time, crafts and a special snack. We will miss having parents attend this year’s holiday celebrations and know that you all will enjoy the holiday crafts that your student brings home!
Holiday Giving Project
Every holiday season, we find an opportunity to teach our children about helping other children through our annual Kids Helping Kids event. This year, we are so excited to collaborate with an amazing organization called The Samaritan Inn. The Samaritan Inn is located in McKinney and they have so many programs those families in need. This year, we are collecting new, necessity items for the families at The Samaritan Inn. Our annual Kids Helping Kids drive will run from December 1st —December 11th. Below has their list of needs that we will be collecting. Please bring items at any time and let us know if you have any questions. Thank you for your support of The Samaritan Inn and for being a part of our Xplor family.
