Home / School News / ⛵ Campus Learning Spotlight: Exploring Our Nation’s Beginnings ⛵

Each classroom participated in a special boat craft activity where children created their own boats using a variety of materials. While learning about boats and explorers, the children also developed important educational, social, and motor skills along the way!

👶 Infants:
Our infants explored textures, colors, and sensory experiences while creating simple boat art projects. They practiced:
• Sensory exploration
• Visual tracking
• Hand-eye coordination
• Early fine motor development
• Language exposure through songs and storytelling

👧 Toddlers:
Toddlers learned about boats and water travel through coloring, gluing, and interactive play activities. They practiced:
• Fine motor skills through grasping and placing materials
• Following simple directions
• Color recognition
• Beginning vocabulary development
• Social interaction during group activities

🧒 Beginners (2-Year-Olds):
Our beginners explored how boats float and how explorers traveled across the ocean. They developed:
• Creativity and imagination
• Early problem-solving skills
• Hand strengthening through crafting
• Listening and communication skills
• Shape and color recognition

🌟 Intermediates (3-Year-Olds):
Intermediates discussed explorers like Christopher Columbus and learned about traveling from one country to another. During their boat projects, they practiced:
• Cutting, gluing, and assembling materials
• Sequencing and following multi-step directions
• Cooperative play and teamwork
• Vocabulary building
• Early history and geography concepts

🎓 Pre-K (4–5-Year-Olds):
Our Pre-K students explored early American history and discussed how exploration helped shape our country. While creating detailed boat crafts, they strengthened:
• Fine motor and writing readiness skills
• Critical thinking and creativity
• Listening comprehension
• Early mapping and geography awareness
• Confidence speaking during classroom discussions

⛵ Through these activities, children across all age groups were able to learn through creativity, hands-on exploration, and imaginative play while building important developmental milestones. We are so proud of all of our students and their wonderful work this week!
