After reading age-appropriate stories and having group discussions about his role as the first President of the United States, the children participated in a hands-on art activity to reinforce their learning.
The children assembled a simple craft project featuring George Washington. Using pre-cut pieces, they worked on putting together his face, hair, and clothing to create their own representation. This activity helped support several developmental areas:
Throughout the lesson, teachers discussed simple facts about George Washington, such as his role as the first president and leader of the country long ago. The children were engaged and asked thoughtful questions, showing curiosity about the past.
