August 2017 Newsletter
A Note from Our Principal,
We are in the home stretch of Summer Camp. If you ask the children you will get mixed answers about how they feel about school starting this month. I know some can’t wait to meet their teacher, see their friends, make new friends, go back to school shopping etc… I also know that there are those who wish summer vacation would last forever.
As we look back at July, we have plenty to celebrate! As a school, we raised $523 (and change) for Alex’s Lemonade Stand. The School Age children did a wonderful job selling, baked goods, lemonade, and of course the tickets to choose what color I dyed my hair. Those of you who got to see the whole process know that yes, my hair was PINK. Many of you who were kind enough to purchase tickets know the sales pitch that the kids had: “You could purchase a ticket to pick what color Ms. Kani is going to dye her hair. She really hates pink, wouldn’t it be funny if she had to dye her hair pink?”. Thank you all for your generosity and support. I want to say a big “THANK YOU” to Sherwin Williams. They were kind enough to donate all of the paint, rollers, brushes and some fun stuff for school age that was used to decorate our Lemonade Stand. It is wonderful to have such caring businesses in our community.
August is always a fun month (and an emotional one for some parents), as the children get ready to start school in their new classrooms. It can be an easy move: just next door or across the hall, or it can be a little more difficult as you have to watch them walk in to that “big” elementary school for the first time, intermediate school, high school or even college. It does get easier, I promise. The children will be visiting their new classrooms and getting to know their new teachers the week of August 14 – 18. They will get to explore their new classrooms and check out all of the new toys, games and books.
August will have lots of “firsts” for several of our children. They will come home with new stories, songs, friends and fun facts that they learned. I hope that you are enjoying all of the pictures and news on the Links 2 Home app.
Sincerely,
Kani Kelly

While traveling with your preschooler, you’ve probably heard him say, “Are we there yet?” or “How much longer?” more times than you can count. Being stuck in the car or on a flight might not seem like the most stimulating activity, but it is possible to engage your child’s mind and[.....]
