A Note from Our Principal,
We hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with loved ones and we enjoyed celebrating Stone Soup with you all last month. As the winter holidays approach we have many special events planned for our students and families and look forward to spending time with you all. We’ve also enclosed important winter and holiday procedure reminders in this newsletter. Please read through it carefully and reach out if you have any questions, concerns. Happy Holidays!
Sincerely,
Tiffany Richards
Inclement Weather Reminders
We do not always follow the closure schedule of the local public schools because we don’t have to contend with the same transportation issues as public schools. Our goal is to be open as many days as possible to support our working parents. If we must close because our teachers cannot safely get to work, you will receive a notification via Links 2 Home as soon as the closure is announced. We also post notifications on our website and Facebook page.
Winter Clothing Reminder
If you’ve not already done so, please check your child’s cubby to ensure they have an extra set of weather appropriate clothes. Students also need to come to school each day with a jacket and dressed warm enough to play outside for part of the day. If the weather is brisk we still go outside for active games and SPARK activities and want everyone to be able to participate!
Holiday Closures
Our school is closed on December 25th for Christmas and January 1st for New Year’s Day.
Winter Break Camp
We will be holding Winter Break Camp for our School-Age students from December 24th-January 4th. In addition to several field trips we will have community service activities, STEAM learning opportunities and holiday themed projects planned. Students may attend all or part of Winter Break Camp, please let us know by December 18th if your child will be attending.
Santa Pictures
Come dressed in your holiday best for Pictures with Santa on December 5th starting at 9:30am. There will be a $5 charge added to your weekly tuition if you choose to have your child’s picture taken!
Santa’s Little Shop
Our school fundraiser for the month of December is Santa’s Little Shop. This will give the children an opportunity to buy items for their families for Christmas on their own. The items range in price from $1-$10 and come with a gift bag. Simply send the cash to school in an envelope and we will do the rest!
Classroom Holiday Celebrations—Friday, December 21st
Through the month of December our classes will be learning about different winter holidays and customs. On Friday, December 21st at 3:30 p.m. our students will celebrate their winter holiday with treats, games, and crafts. We want to encourage all to attend and we will share extra photos on Links 2 Home for those who cannot come. Some classes are collecting small extras for their celebratory snack, sign-up sheets will be posted on the classrooms closer to the time of the parties.
Kids Helping Kids
For the month of December we will be holding a Pajama Drive! We will be collecting pajamas, socks, and new undergarments for the DFPS Rainbow Room for children who have been removed from their homes. Please give with open hearts this season as these children are spending the holidays away from their families and may not have the basic necessities they need.
Polar Express
Join us on December 7, from 6:30pm-9:30pm, for some hot cocoa and The Polar Express Movie. Come in your PJ’s and slippers with an empty belly as we will serve breakfast for dinner while the movie plays. Bring pillows and blankets and lets relax the week away and ring in the holidays together! Hope to see you there!
Christmas Light Tour & CiCi’s Pizza
We will have our annual Christmas Light tour and dinner at Cici’s on December 20th @ 6:00pm. Let’s pile in our jolly Xplor sleighs (buses) and see the wonderful colors of the holidays together.
