A Note from the Principal
I hope you have all enjoyed your long, holiday weekend! At Xplor, we are ready for the weather to cool down! We had an exciting month in August, as we transitioned into our classrooms for the school year. We will provide food and fun while you enjoy a night out (or in!). Please sign up for Parents’ Night Out no later than Wednesday, September 18th, if you would like your child to attend.
Next School Closure – Monday, November 11th
Please be reminded that Xplor will be hosting our semi-annual Professional Development Day on Monday, November 11th, to provide valuable age-specific training to our preschool teachers. Please plan now to make other arrangements for child care that day.
ALMA for Online Payments
We encourage all families to sign up for ALMA to manage payments and accounts. Through ALMA, you are able to make payments, set up automatic payments, make necessary changes (such as address and phone number changes), print statements, and more! If you leave the auto credit card payments with Xplor, there is more opportunity for human error since we manually process these every week. If you would like to sign up for ALMA, please follow the link below. Your default username is firstname.lastname. When logging in, you may opt to reset your password. Please be reminded that at this time, our system capabilities only allow an account for the Primary account holder, typically the first parent added into our system. If you need help setting up ALMA or are unsure who the primary account holder is, please let us know and we will be happy to help!
Student Supplies
Extra Clothes
Please don’t forget to keep extra weather-appropriate clothes at Xplor for your child daily. We encourage all families to put spare clothes, including a minimum of two complete outfits and a spare set of shoes, in individual ziplocks in your child’s cubby. Students in potty training classrooms or that have frequent accidents should have more.
Water Bottles
We also encourage all students to bring a water bottle from home for the week. Please be sure that your child’s water bottle is labeled with his/her first name and last initial, and contains water, not milk or juice, for health and sanitation. If you do bring milk or juice, kindly let your child’s teacher know so they can help ensure the cup is dumped and rinsed when your child is finished. Don’t forget about the Contigo recall – If your child brings a recalled water bottle we will put it away in his/her cubby for safe storage until you arrive.
Other Items
Please also be sure that your child’s diapers/wipes are replenished as needed. Don’t forget to check in Tadpoles, or ask your child’s teacher if you are unsure. Children 12 months and older are also welcome to bring a blanket for nap time and, if needed, an additional soft security item for nap time.
Toys from Home
We cannot stress how important it is to our classroom operation to leave toys at home. We encourage all families to start leaving toys at home from the beginning to develop a good routine so that there are fewer tears as your child gets older. If you are having a difficult time with this, please remind your child that his/her toys are much safer at home than at school where they could be lost or broken. If your child brings a toy to school, he/she will encounter the same struggles at school when it is time to put the toy away, which can be very disruptive in the classroom environment. Of course, a soft security item, such as a teddy bear, is welcome for nap time and for students that are still transitioning and may be experiencing separation anxiety.
Books are a great way to enrich your child’s understanding and acceptance of diverse cultures. With this foundation in the preschool years, children have more social confidence and success in interacting with many different types of people as they progress through elementary school and beyond. Below are some age-appropriate options[.....]
